The night Dasher came home.... Jim met me down on the street and we walked him up to meet the girls (off the property like the dog books all tell you to do). They all did fine and we took them up to the house. Immediately we noticed Dora disappeared, we found her under the table rubbing her head and spinning and crying. I searched her over since she is sensitive when thorns get on her. We couldn't find anything... 3 hours later, at the ER vet, we learned what a fox tail was. Horrible plant got into Dora's ear next to her ear drum. She had to have anesthesia since they were scared if she made any moment, it would puncture her ear drum. We were so nervous for our little girl. And she is in full coat so it is crazy it could have gotten in her ear. With how many times we have taken her hiking and nothing like this ever! It has taken Dora about 2 days to recover. Just goes to show no matter how much planning and how careful you are, you can't protect them always and you can't plan everything out. We are so thankful Dora is okay.
Dasher was introduced to Belle by storm. Poor little guy- we basically came home after a 5 hour car ride and he was thrown into the house and left alone. Thank goodness he has such a great personality and came from a great breeder. When I came home he just started loving me. We had a late night and had to go back and pick Dora up from the vet at 230 am since they had so many dogs. She was still pretty out of it. We put Dasher into the crate next to our bed and not a peep. What a great dog he is!
